Answered Questions & Resources

What timeline should I follow when mailing Save the Dates and Invitations?

Timing plays an important role in ensuring your guests have ample notice and your planning experience feels calm and intentional.

Save the Dates are typically mailed 6–9 months before the wedding, or 9–12 months in advance for destination or international weddings.

Wedding Invitations are traditionally mailed 6–8 weeks before the wedding day. For destination weddings, invitations are often sent 8–10 weeks in advance to allow guests additional time to make arrangements.

These timelines help ensure your guests receive important details early while keeping your celebration feeling timely and thoughtfully planned.

When do we order wedding day-of paper goods?

To ensure every detail of your wedding day paper goods is thoughtfully designed and beautifully executed, we follow a carefully structured proofing and production timeline.

Design proofs for day-of paper goods are shared approximately 8 weeks prior to your wedding day. This allows ample time to review layouts, confirm details, and make any necessary revisions before moving into production.

Final printing typically begins 4 weeks before the wedding, allowing for production timelines across various printing methods and finishes.

In select cases—such as seating cards or escort displays that rely on finalized guest counts—printing may take place closer to the wedding, typically within 2 weeks of the event. This ensures accuracy while still allowing time for printing and delivery.

What stamp value do I need for mailing my invitations?

Postage requirements vary based on envelope size, weight, and embellishments. We always recommend having a fully assembled invitation weighed at your local post office prior to mailing.

  • RSVP Envelopes: Require one Forever stamp when under 1 oz.
  • A7 Envelopes: The most common invitation and Save the Date size. Invitation suites under 1 oz generally require one Forever stamp. A7 Envelopes Over 1 oz with multiple inserts or heavier paper stock often require atleast $1.07 in postage value.
  • A9 Envelopes: Larger invitation formats often exceed standard letter weight and typically require additional postage that equates to $1.07 or more.

What can cause my postage rates to increase?

Your invitation may require additional postage if it includes:

  • Heavier paper stock or multiple inserts
  • Wax seals, ribbons, vellum wraps, or other dimensional elements
  • Square envelopes
  • Thickness over ¼” or increased rigidity

These details often make the envelope non-machinable, requiring a surcharge.

How do I incorporate vintage stamps when mailing my invitation suite?

Vintage postage is our favorite! You can absolutely do this for your envelopes, but it can get a bit complicated. Here are our tips for you below.

For collecting vintage postage, the most important thing to keep in mind is that you must have the postage value requirement needed for your invitation suite. With that said, we HIGHLY recommend using one current USPS stamp mixed in with a set of vintage stamps, so that you can use whatever variety you want at any value without having to worry about not meeting the value requirement and having your envelopes sent back. Always take one stuffed envelope to your local post office and have them weigh it to give you an accurate estimate for value requirement before putting on all of those stamps you collected and paid for!

We do not provide vintage stamps for you, but there are so many great vendor options we can direct you to. Our most used vendors are listed below. Try to find those that provide stamps in bulk, not just sets of 5 or 10 or you’ll have a hard time finding the quantity of stamps that you need.

VintagePostageShop- you can shop by color palette!

Kristen on Minted- this shop provides gorgeous options in very large bulk quantity, which is such a life saver.

Magnolia Postage and Edelweiss Post- both amazing shops that lets you choose by colors or even value.

USPS on Amazon- USPS has a little shop on Amazon that has old postage you can buy in bulk!

Feeling overwhelmed by the added cost or sourcing the amount you need? We recommend only buying vintage postage for one invitation suite that your wedding photographer will take pictures of on the big-day!

Can I have access to the artwork you create for my invitation suite?

We believe your wedding artwork should be enjoyed beyond the invitation suite. All clients receive digital access to the custom artwork created for their wedding, allowing you to seamlessly share these elements with your vendor team. All you have to do is tell us the file type you need, and we will send it your way!

This includes artwork such as floral motifs, wedding crests, monograms, venue illustrations, and other custom design elements developed as part of your stationery experience.

If you choose to share digital files with your vendors, we simply ask that our Printing Release Agreement be forwarded along via email. This ensures your artwork is reproduced accurately and consistently while protecting the integrity of the design.

Can I purchase a venue painting from you to feature on my invitation suite, even though I am using a different stationer?

For clients who are working with another stationer, we’re happy to offer select venue paintings through our Venue Shop for independent use.

These hand-painted illustrations may be incorporated into invitation suites, day-of paper goods, and other wedding details. Digital files are provided upon purchase and may be shared with your vendor team, along with our Printing Release Agreement, to ensure accurate and respectful use of the artwork.

This offering allows brides to enjoy a custom venue illustration while collaborating with their chosen vendors.

If I have seen an Invitation Suite in your portfolio and want to use that for my own design, is that possible?

If you’ve fallen in love with an invitation suite featured in our portfolio, we’re happy to use it as the foundation for your own wedding design.

When a portfolio suite is selected, it is treated as a Collection Suite, even if it is not part of our current six-suite catalog. This allows you to enjoy the look and feel of a proven design while tailoring details such as wording, color palette, paper selections, and finishes to suit your celebration.

Collection Suite pricing applies, offering a streamlined design process with the same level of craftsmanship and care.

Can I print an invitation suite on my own after you have created the design for me?

We create each invitation suite as a complete experience, which is why we do not offer design-only services for independent printing.

Printing methods, paper selections, and finishing details are an essential part of the design process. By managing production in-house and with our trusted printers, we’re able to ensure quality, consistency, and a final result that truly reflects your vision.

This allows us to confidently stand behind every piece we create.

How much should I expect to spend on my invitation suite?

Because every invitation suite is thoughtfully designed around your unique guest count, and selected printing methods and enhancements, pricing can vary from wedding to wedding.

Most of our couples invest between $2,000–$5,000 in their invitation suite. This range reflects factors such as paper selections, printing techniques, envelope styles, custom artwork, and the overall scope of the suite.

We regularly work with budgets both below and above this average, and we’re always happy to guide you through the options to create a design that feels intentional, beautiful, and aligned with your priorities.
